Skateboard Selection Guide

The two decisive factors for the right size of skateboard are the wheelbase and the width of the skateboard deck. A shorter wheelbase makes it easier to turn the skateboard and turns are easier in general. A wider skateboard shape makes it easier to position and place the feet and offers more stability when skating.

The tables above are used to select the right skateboard for children or teenagers.

Adults usually skateboards with a wheelbase between 14.2" and 14.7". The width of the board varies between 8.25" and 10" for adults and depends on shoe and body size as well as personal preference and use. In general, slightly wider boards are easier to ride and offer more stability, especially in the bowl or mini ramp.

Surfboard Selection Guide

A surfboard must offer enough buoyancy so that you can paddle comfortably, start waves and land safely on the board during take-off. A surfboard that is too small will be no fun if you suddenly only get two waves per surf session. Conversely, the surfboard shouldn't be too big for you either. After all, you want to reach the next surf level, practise turns or learn the duck dive.

A very good indicator of which board suits your surfing level, your weight, your surfing experience and your surfing fitness, is the volume of the surfboard measured in liters.

Use the tables above to find the right volume for you.

Firewire SKX LFT - Firewire SKX is Pro Surfers Stuart Kennedy&rsquo

Firewire SKX LFT

Firewire SKX is Pro Surfers Stuart Kennedy’s go to all-round shortboard for the 2017 WSL season.

The SKX is Stuart Kennedy’s go to all-round shortboard for the 2017 season. Designed from a Sci-Fi foundation with a pulled in squash tail, the SKX is Stu’s board of choice for tricky contest conditions, such as variable beach breaks or choppy water where the Sci-Fi may red-line due to excess speed and lift from the wide tail block. The SKX features a compact outline with an even volume distribution and rocker that hints slightly to the lower end of the gen - eral wave spectrum. Combined with the Trademark Tomo (QISC) ‘Quad-Inside-Single-Concave’, the SKX has instant ‘get up and go’ and incredible responsiveness that compliments a dynamic wave attack. Volume suggestion: the SKX should be rid - den slightly higher volumed due to the loose and highly responsive ride characteristics. (e.g. + 0.5 to 1.0L)

Firewire LFT Linear Flex Technology

White Deckskin - LFT incorporates Firewire’s SPRINGER HD, a 0.75" (18 mm) wide aerospace composite that runs down the centerline of the board, representing the next generation in our SPRINGER technology. The SPRINGER HD runs the entire length of the board and plays a pivotal role in optimizing flex from nose to tail.
